Dorotea Acquaviva D'Aragona, cloistered nun of the Monastery of San Benedetto in Conversano, protagonist of a love escape concocted with Don Rodolfo Carafa, a wealthy local gentleman. At the end of the 17th century, a cloistered nun from the convent of San Benedetto returned to the lay state. As was the custom of the times, she became a nun against her will. The escape took place at night from the walls of the enclosure to be able to embark on a new life in the direction of Venice. The work deliberately does not outline a precise face and uses only white to indicate the body, to tell the story of Dorotea but also of all those nuns forced into the cloister but who have never managed to escape from those walls and from that life .
