A story of hundreds of women, forced; they lost their rights and their hopes. Cutting one's hair represents the deprivation of identity and a detachment from one's past life. The sisters were responsible for stripping the new arrivals of their clothes, so as to throw away the impure and profane clothes, proceeding to don the monastic clothes which from then on would represent the only clothing allowed, conforming to the community by erasing the individual self.
